AGI: Fan(Caitlyn) - Script errors(?) - original game bugs(?)

Description

ScummVM 0.12.0svn (Apr 8 2008 15:21:17) Features compiled in: Vorbis FLAC MP3 zLib MPEG2

The scripts in chapter "Tamora" are completely bugged (SPOILER) You arrive and have to seek out the Sybil of Tamora, awaken her and get five quests you must accomplish before she helps you. The first quest is to "extinguish the old terror that destroyed the land" which is (told by a racoon which you have to feed beforehand) most likely a dragon.

So far, so good, problem is with your spells you are able to shortcut the whole quest thing to get right to the fifth and final quest ("Seek out the monster of the sea and get wisdom"), return and recieve the answer you need.

It turns out that the "monster" is an old hermit looking for his toupee, which you can get with your wind spell very easy, give it to him, receive the knowledge of a way out of Tamora, get back to the Sybil and you'll receive a sphere ... again, problem is you'll miss out all the other quests, probably lots of objects (there is a mirror locked in ice, which i probably can get by learning the flame/fire spell from the dragon(?)), there are also gigantic flowers, which i can't do anything yet .. in conclusion, one will be stuck if one doesn't follow the right path of quests (not that i'd found a dragon in Tamora, yet, though)

It seems there is a problem with the objects appearing too early or right from the start which shouldn't happen before a certain point (i.e. the toupee should be visible when the Sybil gives the first quest etc.)

Please if anyone can tell me if this is a problem in the original gameplay or something that could be fixed would be nice.

I can't test with any other interpreter (NAGI), thus can't tell myself.

Tested with DOSBox 0.70 and AGI interpreter v2.936

Unfortunately it seems the author never finished the game and it kind of "ends" in the Tamora chapter, the bugs itslef are also present with the original interpreter.

Too bad, this game has potential

Just for the record and sake of completeness

I was able to finish the game (argh, it was meant to be a trilogy...damn :-( ) on both ScummVM and NAGI.

There *is* a dragon in Tamora and of course the game is finishable if one keeps on using the *right* track in solving Sybils riddles.

The objects (especially the toupé righ at the entrance of Tamora) being visible at the very first moment and not until one gets to the specific riddle is simply a design flaw which can drag the player into troubles. Still the game is at any time winable.

I think we can savely close this as "works as designed" or similar
