SIMON: Game version unknown

Reported by: SF/tsoapm Owned by: Kirben
Priority: normal Component: Engine: AGOS
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Simon the Sorcerer 1

Description

I get this message in CMD when I try to play Simon the Sorceror 1. Nothing else happens:

Your game version appears to be unknown. Please report the following data to the ScummVM team along with the name of the game you tried to add and its version/language/etc.: "simon.gme, "b1b18d0731b64c0738c5cc4a2ee792fc", 7030377 "stripped.txt", "a27e87a9ba21212d769804b3df47bfb2", 252 "icon.dat", "22107c24dfb31b66ac503c28a6e20b19", 14361 "gamepc", "c7c12fea7f6d0bfd22af5cdbc8166862", 36152 "tbllist", "d198a80de2c59e4a0cd24b98814948e8", 711

WARNING: AGOS failed to instantiate engine: Unable to locate game data (target 'simon1', path 'D:\SimonI\)!

ScummVM version: 0.11.1 Language: English Version: CD with Simon 1 & 2. However, I think this can't be the same version as mentioned in the documentation, because there's only one set of game data, and that's in \SimonI\ Trying to run in Windows XP

For what it's worth, I have been able, on different attempts, to get the initial cutscenes to play out, but then it crashes when it gets to the actual game; something about "video_putchar_drawchar - unknown language", but at the moment I can't get it to do even that.

Have you manually changed the language setting for the game? as that can cause detection to fail during startup.

If you copy all the data files to your hard disk, does the game detection work fine?
