WII: Monkey Island 1 - Crash

Reported by: SF/small_horse Owned by: dhewg
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Monkey Island 1

Description

In the WII Port rev 32565 I experienced two crash situations for "Monkey Island 1(CD/DOS/English)"

The first when Guybrush enters the Circus-Tent on the clearing at the beginning of the game. It simply drops back to the Homebrew Channel screen. Normally at this point there would be a small cut-scene.

Second crash occurs during the transition to Chapter 2. At the beginning of this chapter there is also a cut-scene on the ship with Guybrush and his "Mutinous Crew"

Same version works fine on the PC.

Workaround: Put your Wii-SD in your PC, load the savegame in the PC-ScummVM Version and play over the crash-site. Save the game again, copy it back to your SD and continue the game on the Wii.

Raising priority. This bug is nice to get fixed before the release.

is this reproducible for you? if so, could you attach the savegames, please? i just tried to enter the circus tent, and this works just fine for me. the cut-scene plays as expected.

Hi!

Sorry for the late reply. Yes this bug is reproducable for me, I tried it several times!

I will try to find the savegames (just checked and didn't find them yet) and attach them. If I can't find them I will simply start a new game and save before the entrance of the circus tent and see if it crashes again.

any further info on this problem?

i really suspect a libfat issue here, please try this: - reformat your sd card, windows eg. ignores mismatching FAT tables. libfat does not like that very much. - copy the game and your savegames onto sd - and just this game (the important part here: no other game must have a file with a filename that your copy of MI has) - retry

lowering the priority on this, im pretty sure the port itself isnt responsible for this my estimate: 95% libfat ;)

small_horse, does the workaround dhweg suggested work for you?

Many fixes went into libfat in the past weeks, please try the build i just posted on the sticky thread in the wii subforum. This just has to work :) If not, please verify the game files on PC side with ScummVM
