ScummVM 0.11.0svn (Jul 28 2007 15:41:37) Features compiled in: Vorbis FLAC MP3 zLib MPEG2
This is nasty and time consuming as it builds up to lead to the assertion, don't know why, maybe a broken initial save game.
I get an assertion "isValidRect()" failed: file ".common/rext.h", line 93 with Donna trying to walk back to the "Hot Sushi" scene from the newstand scene.
Steps to be taken from the save game attached.
Walk right to "street" Walk right to "square" (Hot Sushi) Walk up to "street" (newsstand) Talk to Geisha about Tea House Talk to Newspaper Seller about a ticket to KINZA Give 50 Yen to Newspaper Seller Go down to "square" (bottom right)
When the screen changes i get the assertion and a complete halt of ScummVM.

Another instance, this time with Dough
Walk into Pachinko, examine slot, play the ball after "EHI! I won!" the assertion happens File Added: game.1

With r29161 the assertion of at least Doug is gone, but it still crashes on me when i perform the above mentioned steps. Log attached
The save game.5 with DONNA is not useable with the latest r29161 as it quits the game after loading with the line unknown statement 'FILE' in zone cartelloexa! File Added: Nippon-Amiga_Crashlog.zip

After playing from the sart up to this point with Doug i have to take back partially the report made in the last entry. The assertion with at least Doug in Pachinko is still there and it's still assertion "isValidRect()" failed: file "./common/rect.h", line 93
rect.h not rext.h as i wrote wrongly in my initial report
As this assertion locks up scummvm i am not able to continue from this point to do further testing (with Doug)
