We have decided against using STL (or the Std C++ lib as a whole) a long time ago, mainly due to portability issues (I myself was a strong proponent for using the Std C++ lib, but in the end, it really isn't possible).

Sorry that your work is wasted (at least in the sense that this project will not incorporate it), but there's nothing I can do about that...

anyway it proofs that it's possible and easy :)

so, remove it from TODO, please. cause I really wanted to contribute something to scummvm and pick up first issue I liked.

Indeed, that TODO item was outdated, I removed it now.

However, this is why we wrote this at the top of TODO:

"Before you start work on something, you might want to talk to somebody from the team."

I'll change that to use some stronger wording, I hate to tell people their work was more or less wasted :-/

As to a "proof of concept": That TODO item was added by me years ago, and I actually had a fully STL enabeld ScummVM back then (even more changes included than your patch). I still have it somewhere, I think... the TODO item was simply a left over.

can I talk to you via any IM? icq/msn, whatever. irc is not too confortable for me, sorry.

You can talk to the team via IRC, or via our mailing list scummvm-devel. If you want to talk to me personally, you can do that via this tracker item, or via mail.
