DRASCULA: game data contains sourceless binaries

Reported by: SF/jmmdebian Owned by: sev-
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Drascula
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Drascula

Description

Hi, I've packaged Drascula for Debian. Our archive maintainers spotted a problem with the Drascula game data: The game archive files are in fact ARJ archives. When extracted with "arj e FOOBAR" one can find several sourceless binaries: DOS4GW.EXE, HACKER.EXE, HACKER2.EXE, HACKER3.EXE, IGOR.EXE, LOGODDM.EXE, PENDULO.EXE SETUP.EXE, UNINSTAL.EXE and YODA.EXE.

I don't think they're needed if run with ScummVM and should be removed.

I disagree, we should still allow people to still play the game using the original binaries, if they want to.

When the data files only version of Beneath a Steel Sky was provided in the past, we specifically had requests for the executable files to be added.

I agree, we should keep the original data files for general distribution.

That said, by clause 4 of the distribution license of the drascula files, debian could distribute a modified version, with the named *.EXE files removed, as long as it is clearly marked as a modified version. That should suffice to solve the issue, right?
