COMI: Audio rut

Reported by: SF/seadogdriftwood Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Monkey Island 3

Description

Whenever I play CoMI, I find that after several seconds to several minutes of gameplay, the sound suddenly starts skipping like a record that's hit a scratch. I have tried moving into another scene. Even when the music should change with the scene, if it's already started skipping, it doesn't change - the approximately 0.5- to 1-second long sound segment keeps going over and over. I'm not 100% certain, but I've noticed that it seems to happen a great deal when someone is talking over background music, or when there is background music plus sounds effects. Again, this may be just chance, but it the closest thing to a lead that I have...

Do you have any tips on how I can fix this problem and finally play Curse of Monkey Island in peace, without having to save, quite, reopen and load every few sentances?
