16 Bit games broken on Raspberry Pi 3

Reported by: GordLacey Owned by: GordLacey

Description

The two 16 bit games I've tested on a Raspberry Pi 3 running ScummVM 1.9.1pre (May 25 2017) installed through RetroPie have had black screens (cursor is visible). The games are Freddi Fish 5 (freddicove) and Backyard Baseball 2001 demo (baseball2001). This is the first version of ScummVM I've used, so I don't know when this was broken, or when it last worked. Both of these games worked fine on the Mac version of ScummVM.

I was able to Backyard Baseball 2001 demo fine on my raspberry pi 3 with scummvm 1.10git may 11th 2017 build.

Do you know how to change the retropie script for Scummvm to grab a version from master?

Nope, I'm not sure how to do that, but if you can post instructions I'll give it a shot.

I would suggest starting #4 right before you go to sleep since it will take 3+ hours to compile.

1) Quit Emulation Station to get terminal.
2) Sudo editor open ~/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/emulators/scummvm.sh
3) On the line that has "gitPullOrClone..." change "branch-1-9" to "master". Note the double quotes is needed. Save exit and reboot.
4) In Emulation Station go to RetroPie, setup, Manage Packages, optional, scummvm, update from source.
5) reboot and try your games.

Games you have previous put into the scummvm rom folder should still be there. If you decide to update the retropie setup script this won't revert back the changes you made here. Updating from source again later will always grab the latest scummvm.

Looks like it was a problem on my install of RetroPie/ScummVM. Downloaded a fresh image, updated everything, and the Backyard Baseball demo played fine.
