BASS: Crash when quitting while quitting

Description
In recent CVS snapshots, if I quit (Alt-X) while the game is already displaying the quit message, ScummVM crashes for me.
I'm also a bit confused about the showGameQuitMsg() function itself. Is it the function or the caller that's responsible for waiting and calling _system->quit()?
