I didn't copy any files, GOG provides installer for their games. The game was released today.

It looks like some files are "missing", might be that the GAME.DAT file is in reality just a CD image where you need to extract the files from. Since all the executables' md5sums match with mine that's probably it. So you just need to extract the necesarry files (for what files you need see our wiki) from the CD image and use ScummVM on that. Closing as invalid, since it should work fine after that.

It works perfectly after extracting GAME.DAT as a CD image. Shouldn't ScummVM support this file natively?

No it shouldn't since it's an CD image and we do not support image files directly.
Closing this feature request as invalid since it's working fine.

Please provide a full file list. I suspect you didn't copy over all the necessary files and thus ScummVM doesn't detect the game for you.
