#7700 new feature request

Wii: Support Sound Settings

Reported by: SF/vampire0 Owned by: dhewg

Description

In the Wii port, the sound settings are not taken into account at all. It would be nice if this would be implemented. My Wii e. g. produces very loud output while the TV program has very quite output. This way I have for Wii about 10-20% volume and for TV 70-100% volume. If I switch between both it would be cool to set the volume in ScummVM to a relatively low value so that I can stick with 70-100% volume while zapping between ScummVM and TV.

Do you mean that setting volume in GUI options has no effect?

comment:3 by dhewg, 15 years ago

Yes, the options set in the GUI are not used by this port :) I'll add this, should only take a few lines.

Hm, after some digging it seems the backend code doesn't need to worry about the volume settings, those are used by the mixer. Which invalidates my initial comment on this issue.

After a little discussion with DrMcCoy, it looks like streams identified as "kPlainSoundType" do not have any option hooked into the GUI for the user. Drascula set the volume for those plain streams based on the settings in its own option menu, but the other engines do not allow that.

I'm not sure what the right thing to do is: Add a volume slider for those streams or recategorize streams currently marked as plain. Hints?

Which games did you try? It would be really helpful to know, which games do not take the audio settings into account.

Ah yes, I know there was something I wanted to do after I last talked to dhewg in IRC, but I just forgot. I tested it now again with monkey VGA, monkey CD, monkey2 and comi. The "Mute all" option works in none of these games. The other sound settings work fine, except in monkey VGA, there they don't have any effect.
