Description
This feature request is meant to serve as a reminder that we still have not turned the new (Python) descumm code from GSoC 2007 into anything useable for our work.
Essentially, it would have to be cleaned up a bit, some bugs which I reported to the author in the past may still need to be fixed. And then get it into trunk!
I've been asking about this for a couple months now, and I finally decided to post a tracker item to make sure it won't be completely forgotten.

Hi Johannes,
do you think there is any chance of us getting this resolved?
Alternatives seem to be to make a public call for help, hoping some volunteer magically pops up who is interested in picking this up (doesn't seem too likely to me), or to just declare the whole thing a failure and forget about it :-(.
