ScummVM: Better use of Game id

Reported by: SF/fac76 Owned by: sev-
Priority: normal Component: --Other--
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game:

Yesterday i formated my harddrive and installed again scummvm. I had keeped Gobliins 2 savegames from both amiga and pc demo. I added those demos to scummvm, but i think i did that by the reverse order. So i was trying to open the amiga savegames with the pc demo. The savegame is opened without any error, but the demo becames unplayable.

Maybe scummvm maybe could add the words pcdemo / amigademo to the game id gob2, that is, use the following game id:

gob2-pc - for the full pc game gob2-mac - for the full mac game gob2-amiga - for the full amiga game gob2-atari - for the full atari game gob2-amigademo - for the amiga demo gob2-pcdemo - for the pc demo

Apparently you're reading my mind by the means of superpower. This is exactly what is planned for nearest future.

Though, it will be in this scheme.

1. PC and English are default, so they're omitted 2. GAMEID-EXTRRA-PLATFORM-LANGUAGE

gob2-demo-amiga gob1-atari-de ween-amiga

So we're reverting back to the good old system of one ID per game/platform?

comment:4 by sev-, 17 years ago

No, no way. In fact it will be single gameid per engine (for some engines, not all of them), but suggested ID, that thing which you use to run the game from the command line will be provided by game engine instead of simple cupling number to it as it happens now.

This seems to have been mostly implemented now. Can we close this item then?
