#6976 closed defect (fixed)

AMAZON: Memory exhaustion when trying to talk to librarian

Reported by: raziel- Owned by: dreammaster
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Access
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Amazon: Guardians of Eden

Description

ScummVM 1.8.0git (Dec 7 2015 08:55:41) Features compiled in: Vorbis FLAC MP3 RGB zLib MPEG2 Theora AAC FreeType2 JPEG PNG

Librarian closeup When talking to Ms. Morton the game goes into the closeup.

From now on my cursor is stuck. I get, for now, nothing on the console, but memory usage goes up slowly.

After a while the game quits and the console shows following:

User picked target 'amazon' (gameid 'amazon')... Looking for a plugin supporting this gameid... Access Engine Starting 'Amazon: Guardians of Eden'

Common::Array: failure to allocate 1073741824 bytes!

While i'm sure the library is holding a lot of information i doubt it should fill up my memory to the point where ScummVM gives up ;-)

Turns out it was bad animation data, and the floppy version doesn't ever use the animation.
