The movements seems to be overall sluggish (in some places more than in others) and slower than in DOSBox. But it's only subjective feeling, I did no exact speed testing.

Well, I did more testing and it seems to be related to the active objects approaching. If I go for example in this bath screen to the left without clicking on any specific object, Sherlock goes a little bit faster than when I go to the left by clicking on Watson. Also you can try to go to Bath Patrons and back. In DOSBox speed remains the same.

I may just bump up the speed up a bit overall, since in my original play-throughs I preferred it going a bit faster; as for the musical instruments, I can always put in place special handling to play them slower so they finish at the correct time.

Due to slight differences between the original running on a slower system (or in DosBox) and how we do it in ScummVM, I did have to estimate an appropriate frame rate to match the original. But every test I've done recently between DosBox and ScummVM seems to match. There are also a couple of times that Holmes plays an instrument, and the music syncs correctly with Holmes ending his play animation.
Do you have any specific examples of Holmes or Watson moving more slowly in ScummVM versus DosBox.
