MIDI support seems alright in Simon the Sorcerer 1, if you are comparing to the original game than run it under real mode dos. Since the original Simon the Sorcerer 1 runs much slower when run inside Windows. Adlib support in the Simon the Sorcerer 1/2 games is unfinished.

BTW does the 'with what ?' and 'to whom ?' messages appear correctly in italian version ? when using language options ( - qit )

Yes, "with what ?" and "to whom ?" are correctly translated into Italian... The only REALLY minor bug with language is that when you chose from postcard "Quit" it says "Sei sicuro di voler uscire (S/N)" (Are you sure that you want to quit) you cannot press "S" but you must use "Y"... This appears both in SIMON1 and SIMON2...

I'm running game with Creative Soundblaster Live! 5.1 using standard 4Mb MIDI soundfonts... And background music using Windows sound system looks really different form original... There are some bells that covers the entire main song... Maybe an other set of soundfonts can work better...

The problem with quit option is fixed in ScummVM cvs and current Windows snapshot. I use Microsoft's software synth myself, which I find gives the best MIDI output in ScummVM.

Yes, I have tried both Simon1 and Simon2 and quit option is fixed with the Italian version.

...And with Microsoft synth music is better...

Very good work!

Closing. Adlib emulation of GM tracks is a work in progress. Simon 1/2 was designed for GM use, so you should run ScummVM with native drivers (-ewindows or -ealsa, etc.) whenever possible. If you must use Adlib emulation of GM (for e.g. Simon 1/2 or Sam & Max), understand that it WILL sound quite different from the original, even when emulation support is complete. It's FM synth, people....
