SFINX: Sfx volume setting not working properly

When you set SFX volume to some low seting and talk to sameone, only some of the speaking dialogue have proper volume. Just load attached save state, set SFX volume to very low, go to the street and talk to car mechanic. First two lines are full volume and only last two are correct.

Now it's always set to full volume, it doesn't respect any SFX volume changes, so it's still not working correctly.

ScummVM has separate volumes for SFX and Speech (i.e. there are three settings, Music/SFX/Speech). You can access those using Crtl+F5 while playing. And now the game properly follows the Speech volume set there.

However the original game seemed to have only two settings for Music and SFX/Speech. So only those two can be changed from the game control panel. And I agree this is a bit confusing.

I am not sure what the best approach would be there. Personally I like the idea of having a separate Speech and SFX volume (especially with that annoying computer noise in the first room - I have set Music and SFX volumes very low when playing again and again the game to check the English translation).

Thierry is right, the system is really working like this, please take that into account when testing, Jaroslaw!

I too prefer this implementation and as far as I know Strangerke prefers it as well, so I don't think we'll change it.

I didn't know about ScummVM separate settings. I was just using original SFX/Speech game setting, but if you can change those two independently - that's great!

Maybe it would be a good idea to mention that feature in Readme.

It's in our user manual (, so I don't think we intend to include it in Sfinx's readme too.
