Description

ScummVM 1.4.0git2560-g5e8562d (Oct 2 2011 20:56:26) Features compiled in: TAINTED FLAC ALSA SEQ TiMidity RGB zLib

I saved my game progress and when I want to restore it (by pressing F7 and choosing my saved game) the screen goes black and nothing more happens.

Replicated with attached savegame. With ./scummvm -d 10, I get the following on the console when loading from the launcher: changeScene(4000) SetNewScene(4000) loadScene(4000) Savegame is corrupt!

Then ScummVM gets locked up in a black screen.

zygm0nt: The cause of this is a corrupted savegame, which we may not be able to determine the exact cause of.. but this should not result in ScummVM lockup without being able to open the GMM or otherwise quit.

dreammaster: Can you fix the loading so that the game RTL/quits cleanly when a corrupt savegame load is attempted, rather than locking up?

So, should I test the saving in ringworld to see if the game creates correct savegames or is it unnecessary?

zygm0nt: That isn't necessary, but a basic check would be reasonable. Could you also confirm that you have tested with an unmodified source tree as your version has the TAINTED flag set indicating that the source it was built from has uncommitted modifications?

I could also use some extra information. * Just to confirm, did you create the savegame with the same version of the source, or did you make it on an earlier version and try to restore it on the above version? * At what exact point in the game was the savegame made? I know it's scene 4000 (The Village), but was it as you just arrived on the planet, or had you done some stuff. The scene has a lot of logic for the various cut-scenes that happen, so it would be helpful to try and replicate the creation of a problem savegame.

@tdhs I don't know why my build is marked as TAINTED. I've done just 'git pull' from master branch and built it. The fact is, I had a prevoius build there and I've done 'make install' and not 'make clean install' - maybe that's the case?

@dreammaster - the savegame was made with the same version of scummvm, it was taken the first moment possible (almost?) on arrival to the village - that is after the initial cutscenes in the village I've made a save.

I've done another git pull and am going to test this again but now with doing 'make clean install'
