Description
at the start of the game when you hide in the ship,get out and go left the console is ready comes on. when I type exit scummvm turns off. I widows 7 laptop and the latest version of scummvm. Please help

zacattack458: The console appears to show a fatal engine error. If you could take a screenshot of the Error message shown in the console, and attach to this bug please.

Just to be clear, I was unable to replicate this with SQ4 from the Space Quest Collection, as the savegame I attached demonstrated.

OK. So I was correct that this is occuring in Room 530.
The error shown on the console is "ERROR: lookupSelector(): attempt to send to non-object or invalid script. Address was 0000:0000!"
zacattack458: Just a few points: 1. Could you describe your version please? i.e. is it floppy or CD, single release or from a compilation, Digital Download from GOG? 2. Can you attach a list of the CD/Floppy datafiles with MD5sums? I would suggest using this tool: http://md5summer.org/ 2. Give the publisher and reference numbers from the packaging. This is so we can try to identify the exact version. its a single cd with just space quest 4 on it I dont have the original packiging any more and i dont get what you mean in number 2

Sorry about the duplicate 2. If you mean this: "Can you attach a list of the CD/Floppy datafiles with MD5sums? I would suggest using this tool: http://md5summer.org/" If you run that tool on the contents of the CD, that will output a list of filenames and associated checksums to detect if your copy has been damaged. Old CDs degrade and the data can be glitched.
Btw: Is English your native language? If not, the project has a number of bilingual developers who may be able to help you in your native language.
Ah, so the original packaging is lost, then can you provide the pressing ID. This is two letters followed by a numeric value printed around the centre of the CD on the Silver side and usually repeated on the Top Silkscreen.

I tried the program you suggested no damaged files. my native language is english. also I tried space quest 4 on dos box ran fine. so what does that mean. is it scummvm or my space quest 4

zacattack458: Sigh...Just because the program produced output does NOT mean that your datafiles are not damaged. PLEASE attach the output list of filenames and associated MD5 checksums for your datafiles.

This bug only manifested in the Windows version of SQ4CD. Some Windows MIDI tracks are missing from scene 530, which messed up all the animations in that scene. Fixed in r996deff.
