PHARKAS : Night Scene Change Glitch

Reported by: digitall Owned by: m-kiewitz
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCI
Version: Keywords: original
Cc: Game: Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist

Description

In Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist, during Act II, after dealing with the horses, the snails and the water tower, the final section is the burning Assay office during the night.

In the main street, the scene is dimmed to indicate "night", but changing screens causes a momentary glitch to "day". Also reloading in front of the pharmacy can result in the sepia image normally reserved for act change.

I have played this in the original engine and this does not occur.

This looks like a palette issue.

To replicate: 1. Load savegame 2. Walk off the left side of the screen. 3. Glitch will occur with ScummVM, but not with original engine.

ScummVM 1.2.0svn52311 (Aug 23 2010 22:33:52) Features compiled in: Vorbis FLAC MP3 ALSA SEQ RGB zLib FluidSynth on Linux x86_32 2.6.34

Ticket imported from: #3051905. Ticket imported from: bugs/5298.

oh and just a short note: this actually also happens in sierra sci, because it's a sierra race condition. Just switch DOS-Box to max cycles and it will happen, too.

Anyway, it's fixed now in ScummVM.
