Cannot Find File "samnmax.000"

Reported by: (none) Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Sam and Max

Description

I am running the most current build of ScummVM on Windows 7 and trying to play Sam and Max Hit The Road. I have no experience with Scumm and only stumbled upon it when searching for Sam and Max. I used to own the game as a kid and have wanted to play it again for many years. Nostalgia aside, when I try to start the game I get an error screen that says "Cannot find file 'samnmax.000'". I am attaching a screen clipping of the background error message. I am not versed in any of this type of computing, thus I am very ignorant to what is happening or what I should do. I just want to play this game that I loved so much in my childhood. Thank you for any help!

The obvious question - to me, at least - would be, what files are in the folder you pointed ScummVM to when adding the game?

Did you follow the instructions from our Wiki <http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Datafiles> on how to copy the datafiles from your CDs?

Yes, I followed the instructions to a T, and the 3 necessary files are the ones that are in the drive I pointed the program to. the "samnmax.000" file that it says it can't find is plainly there. I even tried downloading 2 separate torrents of the files also and it still said it couldn't find them. I've done everything exactly according to all the instructions I've read and it still won't work. I have no clue what's wrong.

Closing this item, as by our project policy, we do not support anybody using illegal copies of any game, aka warez.

We explain on our Wiki how you can obtain legal copies of most games we support.
