IHNM: No Load Game Confirmation

Reported by: Kirben Owned by: bluegr
Priority: high Component: Engine: SAGA
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: I Have No Mouth

ScummVM 0.12.0svn (May 25 2008 10:09:16) Compiled under mingw with GCC 4.2.1-dw2 Running on Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition English DOS version I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream

There is no confirmation dialog, when playing the game, and attempting to load a saved game, under ScummVM.

I have attached a screenshot of the confirmation dialog from the original game.

I set priority higher, as it is currently too easy to accidentally select load, instead of save.

I personally found the load confirmation dialog to be too annoying. If I press the load button I WANT to load the game, I don't want a confirmation for it! As there was no such dialog in ITE, I chose at that time to implement it in the future.

As for the change in priority, I disagree that this should be raised to a higher priority, one button clearly says "Save" while the other says "Load", so I'm not sure why it's possible to confuse the "Load" button with the "Save" one just because the confirmation dialog is not there, as the options dialog in IHNM is very similar to the one in ITE, which has no such confirmation

I did state accidentally, in particular if a saved game name is currently highlighted.

Almost all the other games engine (AGOS, GOB, KYRA, PARALLACTION, SCUMM, SKY, SWORD1, SWORD2, TOUCHE) under ScummVM have separate load and save game screens, so that issue can't occur.

The QUEEN engine uses a similar combined load/save screen, but always confirms a load or save is required.

I would call it release critical, but still it is not a crash. Filippos, could you take a look into it?
