SCUMM: MM - Feeding Meat Eating Plant doesn't work correctly

When I tried to feed item "cheese" (or other food items) to the meat eating plant in order to make it grow a strange bug occured: bernard is able to climb up trough the air to the hatch and later can't get back down. the plant stays small all the time. ScummVM version: 0.10.0 Game lang: english version: original platform: windows 2000

This still occurs with ScummVM 2.3.0git19249-ge41aec4cb4, but it's not related to feeding the plant (I couldn't reproduce it as the OP described at least), it's a problem with the "new kid" command or the cutscenes (weird ed's package or edna & ed talking).
If you leave a character next to the man-eating plant and a cutscene triggers, or if you change character, when you go back to said character he'll be able to "levitate" to the hatch. This works every time, you can even manage to get all three kids stuck in the telescope room.
I attached a new savegame, to reproduce the bug:
- walk to maneating plant
- "new kid" to syd or michael
- "new kid" back to dave
- click on hatch (multiple clicks may be needed)

So this does not just happen with the attached savegame? My impression was that it was just a broken savegame. But the last description sounds like this can be reproduced always.
Is it known whether this is an original bug? Or a real bug of our own doing? :-)

This is an original bug, and it could occur in other locations, too (I didn't try, though).
Happens only on version 1 of the game.
