GOB2: Wrong object placement

Reported by: SF/gerinych Owned by: DrMcCoy
Priority: normal Component: Engine: Gob
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Gobliins 2

Description

I have some objects placements on the second-last stage (Tazaar's Laboratory). The moment I entered that room I saved, then, after I got Buffoon to drink magic water I loaded that state, and Buffoon was floating in the upper-left corner of the screen in normal state (not possesed). It seems that it's just his sprite that's glitching, because when I move my mouse near the chair where he's supposed to be sitting, I see "possesed Buffoon" caption on the bottom of the screen. When I come up to examine him, his sprite goes back to where it's supposed to be. Screenshot included. ------ Also I found almost the same glitch in the same room. When I gave Buffoon the magic water and then used an empty mug on Tazaar with Winkle, Tazaar got angry and hit a table. This action is supposed to knock the toothpick down, but the toothpick falls down from above the ceiling in the upper-left corner and goes offscreen after breaking the fall (in mid-air). After that I can't find the place where it's supposed to be. The strangest thing is that when I did that I could do that again, another toothpick falls down from the upper-left corner, and another, and another, etc.

I don't know which one was the save file, so I packed every file in ScummVM directory that starts with "gob2". Total of 3 files.

To process your bug report appropriately, we need you to provide the following additional information:

* ScummVM version (PLEASE test the latest CVS/Daily build) * Bug details, including instructions on reproducing it * Language of game (English, German, ...) * Version of game (talkie, floppy, ...) * Platform and Compiler (Win32, Linux, MacOS, ...) * Attach a save game if possible * If this bug only occurred recently, please note the last version without the bug, and the first version including the bug. That way we can fix it quicker by looking at the changes made.

This should only take you a little time but will make it much easier for us to process your bug report in a way that satisfies both you and us.

Thank you for your support!

Hmm, seems like the problem is already in the save (converting the save to the original format and loading with Gob2 in DosBox produces the same thing). Could you try again with the latest SVN/daily build and give me a save right before entering the room?

As for the toothpick, that is the correct behaviour (if it bounces of the surface where the pipe is on, too, as it does here, that is). You have to "punch" the toothpick away with the boomerang, then you can take it.
