Scummvm 0.9.0 for Mac OS X and 0.9.1svn for psp while using a compressed version (scummvm tools 0.9.0 for osx with --vorbis -q 0 option) of it crash with a "ERROR: playSound: Not a valid WAV file" report

That's odd, I thought the "Not a valid WAV file" error could only happen when (for whatever reason) it failed to load a sound from the original sound file, not from the Ogg Vorbis-compressed one.

The Windows version uses the WAV format for the sound effects stored in the SFXXXXxx file. But it doesn't look like a sound effects file is loaded at this point.

Are you sure you don't have a left over SIMON.WAV in a sub directory of game path or in extra path?

Anyway, this is clearly a corrupt file is either case, so rejecting.
