FT: Invalid Actor; on entering to dog in junkyard

Reported by: SF/veldigkul Owned by:

Cc: Game: Full Throttle

Description

Hi, I found this crash.

Bug (crash) in Scumm VM 0.9.0 stable and daily 0.10.0svn(Jul 11 2006 10:16:03) Win32 version, on WinXP.

When trying to enter the area with the dog in the junkyard, game craches. And gives this error code:

(28:2013:0x9342): Invalid actor 52 in o6_getActorScale

Full Throttle version CD-talkie, english.

I tried both the 0.9.0 stabe and the daily build, both crashed. But when I tried it with SVM 0.8.2 nothing (bad) happened. I saved after I got to the dog, and loaded the save in 0.9.0 version and then it worked perfect.

Attached save right before bug in 0.9.0 version.

Noticed that my problem seems quite similar to another bug that was fixed. This is it: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1407789&group_id=37116&atid=418820

It really looks like you have damaged game data file. I cannot reproduce the issue.

Please, provide md5 for ft.la1

Hmm, sounds strange since it worked for me with SVM 0.8.2. Well my md5 for FT.LA1 is:

a7c3c4a128b55437cdb139d4ce9cd163

Has had no problems since I loaded a game I played right past this point in 0.8.2, and then loaded with 0.9.0.

That MD5 seems valid.

Bug #1407789 crashes in a different spot, I am not sure whether (or rather, doubt that) it is related.

However, bugs #918280 and #1003717 reported a crash in the precise same spot. Although it was supposedly fixed back then by me (see <http:// svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/scummvm?view=rev&revision=14467>). Not sure whether this new crash is related.

Array 417 contains bogus data, namely array-417[0][0] equals 52, causing the crash here. The fun question now is, how did that happen... It seems unlikely we'll be able to find out, so I tend to write this off as a "damager save file" case :-/

How old is that save game? Did you start to play with 0.8.0, or with 0.9.0 ? Or is it from an older version?
