Everytime when Melissa enters the hostel, the game crashes.

What exactly does ScummVM report when the crash occurs? you might need to start ScummVM via a Command Prompt to see the error.
I'm unable to reproduce the crash, when using that saved game with current ScummVM 0.9.0 SVN.
Could your data files be corrupt?
