#2295 closed defect

Scummvm does not cooperate with xorg and composite

Reported by: SF/xake Owned by: sev-
Priority: normal Component: Port: Linux
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game:

Description

If you enable composite in xorg-x11, starts a composite-manager (like xcompmgr) and starts scummvm everything that is black (like the background of the mainmenu and same thing in MI1 (VGA), have not had time so far looking into what more games are affected) turns transparent. It looks neat, but it is not so fun when you're trying to play a game agains something other than a black background.

Errr... may you describe from programmer's point of view what should be done for that? Or at least point to some URL where that is described. So far we do nothing in that aspect and use standard SDL calls. Does other SDL applications like dosbox have that problem? If they do then that is your setup which makes this problem.

I think this is (if at all) a bug in SDL. More likely, though, it's a bug in xcompmgr / xorg and the way how they add "compositing" to the X protocol.

Yeah, the problem is probably SDL. Tried to play frozen-bubble this morning, and that game had the exakt same problem.
