Reported by: SF/grimshark Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Monkey Island 3

Description

Version : 0.7.0 Language: English OS: WinXP Version of Game: (I'm new to this and dont know) Platform: PC

Sorry this is a repeat of previously closed bug reports but I looked at 1097742, 929650 etc. and cannot find a solution for my problem.

Part 3 starts, the pirates start the song but I have no sound and nothing else happens.

some other reports mentioned file rights etc. but all the files are on my machine and read/write enabled.

I must be stupid but could I get a solution to this problem.

thanks.

I don't know if it's any help, but I believe the pirate song is stored in musdisk2.bun. Is it possible that this file has somehow become corrupt or truncated? Mine is about 181 MB.

Though to be honest, I'm not sure if I ever played this far in COMI using ScummVM, so I don't have any personal experience of how well it's working. I've just never gotten around to it.

yes, that file is required to pass that scene, without it, engine will freeze.

Just use boot parameter 465 to jump to Part III of COMI.

I can't reproduce the issue with ScummVM 0.7.0 or 0.8.0CVS under Windows XP. I noticed speech is currently been cut short in ScummVM 0.8.0CVS though.

speech issue could be related to latest soundHandle changes

Hi,

I got so frustrated I just restarted the game from scratch without using ScummVM, so indirectly my problem is solved.

Thanks for trying anyway

just having stumbled across the same problem with 0.7.0 on debian testing, having tried a custom CVS build as of Sun Mar 27 03:07:16 CEST 2005, i would like to point out that running on cvs actually seems to fix that problem. a saved at that scene still seems to hang, but restarting at the beginning of chapter 3 gets rid of the loop.

pardon,

i was a little hasty with my diagnosis.

still hangs, though not on the pirate song, but now on the first dialog after the song.

subtitle is shown ("all right crew, let's get to work!'), but text never played back.

hmm, these indeed are not 181MB in size...

45 MB each seems *way* to small. Maybe you compressed them?
