COMI: Banjo duel timing problem

Reported by: SF/gourry Owned by: fingolfin
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords: script
Cc: Game: Monkey Island 3

Description

ScummVM version: 0.7.0CVS (20 OCT 2004) and previous ones. Platform: WIndows XP SP2 Game: Curse of Monkey Island - English (US) / Windows

I noticed that banjo duel isn't working as original game.

In the original game was present a short timeout of some second that allowed the player to choose the right note to play between one automatic phase and the other during one strofa.
Instead with the emulator only the first note could be played, while the game does not give enough time to play the second and it behaves like if the timeout was elapsed. I have also noticed that in some (random?) situations the game does not leave time even to choose the first note.
It seems a problem of timeout calibration...

The problem is aggirabile playing notes before Guybrush has ended to play... But it is really less fascinating... :-/

Savegame just before banjo duel

This only happens to me if I fail the first attempt at banjo duel. The first time it works fine, but if I tell the pirate that I want to try again, the next time I won't get to play any notes at all. After giving up and challenging him again at the barbershop, it will work again.

In my case it happens the first time too... Really strange!

With the latest CVS (Oct 22 2004, 22:34:33) I can no longer reproduce this.

I tried it too (Oct 22 2004, 23:43:56) and the bug is still present... Altough the situation is quite improved as the game the first time allows you to play three notes. If then you tell the pirate that wou want to try again, you can only enter two notes. It Really seems something related to a timeout not re- initialized, but it's only a guess as I've never seen the source code. The fact that on a different machine (like Ignalina said) works differently is quite strange...

BTW, my machine is an Athlon XP 2600+ with mainboard Asus A7V, 512Mb Ram SDR, Ati Radeon 9100, Soundblaster Live 5.1, Windows XP SP2.

Today CVS snaphot (31 Oct 12:02:25) seems to have cleared this problem.

Thanks everybody for your work.

I have no idea what or who fixed this, but if it's gone, it's gone, and we're all happy, right? :-)
