SCUMM: Sfx volume problem

Reported by: SF/simsaw Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Indiana Jones 4

Description

If I turn down the sfx volume in Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis or Sam & Max all volumes are turned down (should be the same with all other games), there is no music then.

This seems to be the case since you made the ScummVM main window reappear when quitting a game. I hope you can fix this quickly. (I wonder why no one did noticed this before.)

You mean you hear no speech? I think only a few games make any distinction between sound effects and speech. The Dig, Full Throttle and The Curse of Monkey Island probably do, as well as some of the non-LucasArts games (e.g. Broken Sword), but I don't think Fate of Atlantis or Sam & Max do.

Or do you mean you don't hear any music? Then it is indeed strange.

I could be wrong, though. Anyone else care to comment?

To process your bug report appropriately, we need you to provide the following additional information:

* ScummVM version (PLEASE test the latest CVS/Daily build) * Bug details, including instructions on reproducing it * Language of game (English, German, ...) * Version of game (talkie, floppy, ...) * Platform and Compiler (Win32, Linux, MacOS, ...) * Attach a save game if possible * If this bug only occurred recently, please note the last version without the bug, and the first version including the bug. That way we can fix it quicker by looking at the changes made.

This should only take you a little time but will make it much easier for us to process your bug report in a way that satisfies both you and us.

Thank you for your support!

Using latest ScummVM CVS on Windows XP.

The exact problem is adjusting the 'SFX Volume' in GUI also effects music volume, when using the adlib music driver.

I put a partial fix for this -- the problem was caused by my setupPremix changes; previously, audio data inserted via the premix hook (like for the adlib emulator) was not affected by the volume settings at all. After my change, it was treated like SFX. Now it is treated like music data.
