Description

The MENU and HELP taskbar button sounds are paused by the loading of their corresponding screens, so we hear some portion of the sound; when we return from that screen back to gameplay, we hear the remaining portion of that sound.
It looks like the original waits for the button sound to complete before leaving gameplay.
