MI2: Bypassing speech at Dread's gives weird results

Reported by: SF/ys_ Owned by: Kirben
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords: original
Cc: Game: Monkey Island 2

Description

In Dread's, when we are still in Scabb Island, if I try to bypass the speech with left+right clic or ESC key, it's bypassed. But last phrases are shown again and no effect is done.

By example, I wanna get out of there, I say "I gotta go, there's too many treasures awaiting for me" (or something else), I bypass that line and then the same phrases are shown again, and Guybrush doesn't get out of there.

I hope you understand me, you've noticed, English isn't my first language.

Attached a screenshot and a savegame.

Occurs at least in 20040717 and 20040720 Debian GNU/Linux (2.6.7) - gcc 3.3.4 Monkey2 Spanish version

Bypassing the speech with the dot (.) works OK. I didn't know I could bypass the speech this way :-) a friend told it to me 5 minutes ago.

The ESC key is only meant to skip cutscenes. Always use the dot (.) key when skipping subtitles/speech. Closing as invalid, since the original game acts exactly the same in this scene.
