Description

I've begun a playtest of DDI. I hope I can get through it quickly enough. Another of my favourites!

Couple things with the pipes-under-sink puzzle:

  • Hovering over a pipe piece should show a grabbing-hand cursor (not red magnifying glass);
  • Right-clicking a piece should pick up the piece;
  • When Nancy says "That looks right" or "That doesn't go there", that text should appear in the conversation box;
  • Nancy might say "That looks right" after placing the last piece, so she says two different sentences at the same time! (at same time as "The pipe's all fixed!...") (I solved the puzzle many many times in the original and never heard her overlap her speech, but I guess I can't certainly rule it out without some RE :) )

  • Read subtitles properly
  • Use autotext entries for subtitles
  • Pick up and rotate pieces when right clicking on them
  • Use grab cursor when picking up pieces

The first three issues should be fixed. The fourth one looks to be caused purely out of luck, since the comments for each move are played randomly. I wasn't able to reproduce it, but the original should also exhibit the same behavior, which is caused by order of checks made in that puzzle.

Hmm, we both couldn't reproduce the overlapped speech. Speculation, I wonder if the original really does play both, but Nancy voice lines cancel other Nancy lines so we never hear it. (A glitch like that is taken advantage of a lot in speedruns of the much much newer games, when Nancy can more freely use her smartphone.)
I will write it down, hoping to examine it in the future...
