Description
Using ScummVM 2.9.1 release under Windows 11 (tried both x86 and x64 builds), I tried to add my copy of Broken Sword 2 into ScummVM. It's a retail Windows edition in Polish, on 2 CDs from initial 1997 box release. It used to work flawlessly in the past.
However, with a dataset that includes all the necessary files (in accordance with the Wiki), the game is indeed detected as Broken Sword 2, but instead of the Polish Windows release, ScummVM treats it as the English demo version. The same happens if I don't properly copy all the assets to my HDD, but rather try to point CD drive as source. Plainly editing the ID in the game addition dialogue does not change anything.
Should the game be started, the proper intro sequence is played, albeit without speech or subtitles. When it ends (or is skipped), the game starts its playthrough in Marseille docks (as was thr case in the proper demo) rather than the Oubier's manion. Interestingly, an introductory speech by George, which only appeared in the demo and not in the full game, is played and correctly subtitled in Polish.
The above happens while using files originating in the Polish retail, boxed release of BS2 from 1997. HOWEVER, when I used the edition that was bundled with "Top Secret" magazine in 2002 as a covermount, ScummVM identified the game properly as a Polish Windows release and allowed its proper playthrough. These two differ, as the 2002 release was bundled on single CD and its translation had some minor alterations. I attached the filelists and respective md5 hashsums for both versions as a reference.
