COMI: Game freeze in Part 3 when Pirates start to sing

Reported by: SF/snugnun Owned by: aquadran
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords:
Cc: Game: Monkey Island 3

Description

ScummVM Version 6

At the beginning of Part 3, after Rottingham has taken the map, the crew begins to sing and Guybrush needs to select a text option (all of them along the lines of, "Stop singing and let's get to work to retrieve the map"), the game freezes. What I mean by freeze: Once the text selection is made, the text remains on the screen (although you don't hear Guysbrush speak it), the music continues to play and the crew continues to bob up and down, but that's it. I restarted and tried all text selections and all of them have the same effect.

English version, Talkie

PC, WinXP

I have attached the save game.

Thanks in advance.

CORRECTION: I am using ScummVM Version 7

Correction: there is no ScummVM version 7 - only 0.7.0 (note that this is *less than* version 1.0).

Exactly same behavior here.

May be related to the fact that the song "The pirate I was meant to be" seems to have been cut in international versions of the game (untranslatable?), and ScummVM 0.6.0 programmers didn't take it in mind.

I found related information in MixNMojo iMuse tools page (http://imuse.mixnmojo.com/tools.shtml), in the explanation of a CMI Patch for this song.

Currently, I'm playing COMI (Spanish version) without ScummVM, since it's not possible to continue beyond this "frozen" song scene.
