Some interactive parts of the game Obsidian cause either

  • Sound effects to play twice
  • UI Elements not working at all.
  • Visual nodes to reset.

Noted areas:

  • Spider: Ore dropper button, Spider Realm (sound plays twice, video doesn't play despite having correct chemical inserted.) (00:53:24)
  • Spider: TV in chemistry lab has non-working Stop button, so video can't be paused. (00:48:12)
  • Bismuth: Crossover lever plays "Chip missing" warning after pulling it with crossover chip in place. This also overlaps with the correct speech (Double play) (01:59:27)
  • Bismuth: Painting disappeared from frame and reverted to empty frame, including docent. This soft-locked me and I had to load a save. (02:12:20)
  • Conductor: Human Control cutscene played after flipping switch a second time (02:35:30)

ScummVM version: 2.9.0
OS: Windows 10 22H2, build 19045.5371

Note: I could not locate my latest saves or the directory they were stored in.

First issue isn't a bug, the puzzle was done incorrectly (you used the wrong yellow vial the first time).

Second should be fixed by commit 8d562cc4d5ca47887394d85ab78d431dbac88fad, unfortunately that fix is not in 2.9.1 so you'd need to use a daily build.

I think some of the extra sound plays are due to the scene hot-loading that was added for SPQR. There's definitely one that happens if you leave the air gun scene by pressing Esc or winning the puzzle, caused by a Mouse Outside event causing the scene to be reloaded (which wasn't possible before the hot-loading feature).
