STARK: Changing language to Czech does not correctly show the eastern european chars

Hello guys,

thanks for this amazing software, so we are able to play wonderful games of the past.

Problem:

• Even after changing the language of the game, some of the eastern European chars are not shown correctly.

ScummVM version:

• 2.8.1
• not installed, ran using mounted DMG

Game Language:

• originally English
• rewrote all the subtitle files and several more files by Czech version of those files

Version of game:

• GOG, installed through Porting Kit

OS:

• System Version: macOS 15.2 (24C101)
• Kernel Version: Darwin 24.2.0

Steps to reproduce:

1. I have installed GOG's English version of The Longest Journey using Porting Kit. Ran the game and it worked.
2. Copy pasted Czech subtitles into game folder.
3. Changed the game language in ScummVM's config on two lines (in GUI, it was disabled):

4. Ran the game and it works.
5. But these characters are wrongly shown in menus and subtitles (see screenshots):

• č - shown as é
• ř - shown as crossed O
• ě - shown as ď

Can you please help?

PS: I did not know the component so I chose the best I could...
PS2: Why was the game language option disabled and I had to change it in the config?
