#15195 pending feature request (pending)

INDY3: Restore content in German versions (dos/amiga ega and dos/vga)

Reported by: gabberhead Owned by: dwatteau
Priority: normal Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords: enhancement
Cc: Game: Indiana Jones 3

Description

scummvm has this option also for this game:

restored content

is it possible, to restore the following content with that option, which was removed in the german version?

ega - german dos and amiga versions

at the end of the game, when u travel to iskenderun and when u enter the cave, the rolling/bouncing head and the comment: Yep, this is the place. (in the english version) is completly removed.
u can test it, when u type in the consle: room 81 annd then enter the cave.

vga - german dos version:

in the vga version in the german version, the rolling/bouncing head is there, but the comment: Yep, this is the place. (in the english version) is also missing. indy also doesn't move his mouth.

is this possible to restore all of this? perhapt it is ony a small change in the script. but i don't know :)

Hi,

Thanks for reporting the differences in this release.

I don't know about the missing animation (did they remove it from the resources, or did they just disable to call showing it?), but for the text it should be easily doable, yes.

I'm OK with working on this at some point, but I don't own any German release, at the moment. It would require exploring its resources a bit.

i dont know, what they did :) perhaps, all of this animation, rolling head etc are in the resources of the german versions available, but only disabled with a call to showing it.

short info:

for the vga version the script file, for moving indys mouth with his short comment, which was cut out from the german version is the following: LS_200.dmp from the 82.LFL file

when u open the german file, this part is missing compared to the english version: Yep, this is the place.

i will upload both files for a comparisson.

short question @dwatteau:

u have createt also the tool: scummtr.exe

when i try to extract the textfile from the amiga ega version of the game, i get the folowing error for the german version. english amiga version, there is no problem:

ERROR: Unknown function id 0x2E

with the dos ega version, there is no problem. is this a problem, or wrong option when i am trying to extrect the text?

i am using this:
scummtr -g indy3 -cwh -A aov -p ./ -of indy3ega_de.txt

ps: for the amiga version of the game, the script file is called: LSv3_0200 also inside the 82.lfl
i will also uload both files for a comparisson.

i have found another little censored thing. in "room 45" where hitler stands on the stage, in the german amiga and ega dos version, he dont raise his right arm. he stands still. in the english version, he raises his right arm.

i am not sure, but i think all censored things from the german amiga and ega dos version, also applies to the german atari st version. but i dont know for sure.
