BACKENDS: FLATPAK: Flatpak version keeps setting preferred device to FluidSynth

Reported by: Trevbot911 Owned by: lephilousophe
Priority: high Component: Audio
Version: Keywords: Settings
Cc: Game:

Description

When using the Flatpak version on my Steam Deck, every time I set the preferred device in the global audio settings to <default> it will reset to FluidSynth after I restart the app. If it is set to another setting (tested with MT-32, AdLib, and No music) it will remember the setting, but will reset again if set back to <default>. This bug is also happening after renaming the config file and save folder.

Would be good to resolve this for the 2.9.0 release.

The Flatpak package is not handled by the ScummVM team.
This behavior has been intentionally added by the Flatpak maintainers.
If you still think it is bug, you can open an issue on the Flatpak repository at https://github.com/flathub/org.scummvm.ScummVM

I raised this as an issue over there, as it was causing me a lot of headache with AGI Sierra games and my desire to have a setting of default use IBM PCjr sound for them (as ScummVM seems designed to do) vs. the forced Fluidsynth setting making the games use MIDI (unless I overrode it specifically with PCjr sound). It seems the maintainers of the flatpak are taking the position of setting the default to Fluidsynth and then leaving that setting alone afterward, and merging that change into the master branch for the flatpak.
