GOB: Adibou 1 German 4-5 years (ADI Junior 4-5 Jahre) learning programs not selectable

Hi,

I tested the german CD version of Adibou 1. It consists of two parts:

ADI Junior 4-6 Jahre
ADI Junior 6-7 Jahre.

I copied the following data files from both my game CDs into the same directory, then added the game to ScummVM:

BOUALL.ITK
C51.STK
C61.STK
INTRO.STK
L51.STK
L61.STK
FIVE.ALL
SIX.ALL

The INTRO.STK is the same on both CDs, but the BOUALL.ITK is different (2 bytes larger on 6-7 years CD).

When added, the game get's detected as 'ADI Jr.4-6 Jahre' (even if only using the files from 6-7 years CD), probably because detection depends on INTRO.STK.

When I play the game in ScummVM, by clicking on the door of the house, you can select which learning program you want to play. But I can only select learning programs for 6-7 years, the learning programs for 4-5 years are not shown.

If I delete FIVE.ALL and SIX.ALL, now instead only the learning programs for 4-5 years can be selected and the decriptive text is in French. Those 2 files are not mentioned as needed data files in the wiki, but maybe they should be added.

I'll add screenshots of the issue also to show what I mean.

And what happens if you delete only SIX.ALL, leaving FIVE.ALL, is the application 4-5 years and does the text appear in German ?

The two ALL files are probably used to distinguish between the two CDs, if so we should mention them in the wiki indeed.

Hi, you're right. With only FIVE.ALL, the 4-5 years applications are available instead.

For the french versions then it should be the files FIVE.FRA and SIX.FRA, according to the ScummVM warning messages in the cmd window. (Maybe for other languages they are also different, like probably FIVE.ANG and SIX.ANG for English, but that's just assumption).

Also, I did test both games in a DOSBox + Win 3.1 setting. Unlike, for ex. Playtoons series, they install separately, no combined install. Only a few files are copied to HD for each game in a separate folder:

INSTALL.ASK
MDO.DEF
SOUNDLIB.DLL
WLOADER.EXE

and a WMDO.CFG file is created. The data files are loaded from CD.

When I execute one of the two installed programs (each one is fine), and click on the house, the learning programs of the respective CD are shown. If I swap the CD without leaving the game, then click the house again, it indeed shows the other learning programs from the now inserted CD.

I don't own any of the floppy versions of Adibou 1 (and I don't know if there even were some in Germany), so I can't test if the behaviour is the same or different.

Hm, sure, if you tell me what I need to do. I just registered to Discord, never have that used and it seems way to complicated to me with all those ways to use.
