PSP 2.7.0 black screen on startup

Description

ScummVM version
2.7.0 stable and latest daily (398476a0)

Bug details
Install to Memory Stick as usual by unzipping and placing in PSP/GAME/
Attempt to launch ScummVM, the orange LED blinks as it's reading the memory card,
screen goes black. The screen remains black black for approximately 10 seconds,
eventually returns to main PSP menu.
I made sure to delete all config files and re-download/reinstall everything, tried
latest daily, and it still happens.

PSP 1001 / PSP System Software 6.60 with PRO-C

If this bug only occurred recently, please note the last version without the bug, and the first version including the bug.
Latest working version: 2.6.1 stable

Hello, have you checked if this might be the source of your issue?

Plugin files are not interchangeable between ScummVM versions. You must copy all the plugin files
found in the /PSP/GAME/scummvm/plugin/ folder for every new version you install.
If ScummVM crashes on startup, delete the existing plugin files in the plugin directory
and copy the new ones again.

I tested both 2.7.0 and 2.7.1 on my real hardware PSP slim and they work fine.

It could be a problem due to PSP phat hardware having less RAM? I don’t have a phat model to test.

According to ccawley’s tests this might be due to loading from fonts.dat. In future versions, it might help to allow a smaller fonts-small.dat to reduce memory footprint on machines with less than 64MB RAM.
