AGS: Heroine's Quest font rendering issue

TrueType fonts (TTF) render slightly differently between ScummVM (tested in 2.5.1) and AGS. The result in ScummVM is that adjacent letters may blend together, making them harder to read, where AGS puts a black border around letters. See screenshot for an example.

It is different in the daily build, but still not identical to the AGS one.
The game is using an older version of AGS. Are there any plans to include an engine update?

The screenshot is from Heroine's Quest. But such differences are quite common (even with the upstream interpreter)

We implemented more precise font rendering in AGS. Could you please try with a 2.8.0 nightly build?

I left this bug open because there are still some very small differences (the "b" and the "," characters), but I'm not sure if it's a defect in ScummVM's implementaion or in upstream AGS, and only in this game AFAIK.
Anyway compared to the previous situation (which affected multiple games) this is a really minor issue.
