Thanks for the report. Does the lockup happen with the release version of ScummVM? Or with the latest dev build? There has been a lockup fix which did not make it into the release. So maybe this is related to that.

The lockup happens on the release version 2.5.0 that I downloaded from the Play Store.

The 2.5.0 version on Play Store is quite old now. The more recent 2.6.0 can be downloaded from the ScummVM web site. However, as athrxx has written above, the 2.6.0 release will not include the fix.

You could test with a development daily build (2.7.0) - which is also available from the ScummVM web site - but keep in mind that upgrading between development build and release builds is not supported which means that you'd have to uninstall the one in order to install the other, and hence, you may lose your ScummVM configuration (added games, custom options) and possibly your saved games too (those that are stored in the default storage location within the app storage space, unless you've backed them up on the Cloud).

A possible workaround would be to run the game with disabled music (from the "Edit Game" -> "Audio" (Tab) -> "Override global audio settings" -> "Music Device" -> "No Music") at least just to get past the soft lock. But, even if this works, I don't know if it will lock up again sometime further into the game, if you re-enable the music again. (I am also unsure if this would work with just muted music).

It indeed worked with music disabled.
I'll try the daily build and report back with music on.
Thanks!

I confirm that the soft lock doesn't occur with music ON on the latest daily build.
