In general we don't provide support for Retroarch, since they are doing things with their software and the cores that we have no control on.

If you have a PC or a platform that can run ScummVM 2.6 directly, could you check if the issue also occurs there for you?

I tried running the game using Retroarch on linux, but I couldn't since the "official" ScummVM core is very old (2.1.1) and doesn't even support AGS games. Does the xbox version come with an updated core? Or did you get it anywhere?

This backend: https://github.com/diablodiab/libretro-scummvm-backend

supports recent scummvm (still without hardware rendering). It does this by using upstream code and only 'slotting in' as a 'backend' which is scummvm project nomenclature for 'port'.

However, i'm not at all sure it can run on the xbox (is it x86-64? If so, it's possible the windows build might work, although i kind of doubt it).

There is a buildbot here: build.bot.nu/nightly/

can run it, if you also download the data files also there and extract them on the retroarch system dir, then extract the core to the cores dir.

You may have to re-add the games by deleting the scummvm.ini file then starting the core standalone and adding them again.

The 'regular' way to create a scummvm retroarch playlist is very very boring so i usually use this: https://github.com/i30817/libretro-mkscumm

You don't need it though, if you start the core from retroarch and use scummvm inbuilt chooser.

Anyway, i tried that backend with maniac mansion enhanced and i didn't feel like there were pauses. But i'm on a linux computer, not a xbox, so it could be countless things different.

Thanks for the info and for testing the game on your system.

Unfortunately, unless the original poster gives additional information (or somebody with the same xbox setup chimes in) I don't think we can do much else.

The official core was updated to 2.6.1 yesterday, I tested (on Windows) MM Deluxe and everything works normally.

This could probably be closed, but for now I'll move to backends. If it still happens, it's probably platform related.

I'm closing this one as outdated. I can't reproduce the issues on retroarch, and both the AGS engine and the libretro core changed significantly since then (and the behavior on Xbox is really outside our scope)
