#13660 closed defect (fixed)

BACKENDS: WII: BLADERUNNER: Blade Runner crashes in chinatown or soon after that

Reported by: Philksi Owned by: lephilousophe
Priority: high Component: Port: Wii
Version: Keywords: Wii, crash, chinatown
Cc: Philksi Game: Blade Runner

Description

Version: ScummVM 2.5.1
System: Wii
Game: Blade Runner (GOG)

The game crashes, both in normal mode and with restored content, during the first visit to Chinatown and usually manifests when going though to the kitchen to talk to Zuben. I did manage to get through the chase once, but it crashed after that.

This might be specific to the Wii Port of ScummVM.

I am unable to reproduce the crash on the Windows version after hanging around, chasing Zuben, retiring him, leaving and revisiting the Howie Lee's chinatown area.

Also tried reloading a game and re-doing the above.

Do you have a Desktop PC where you can try the game to see if this happens there as well?

I have run it on Mac OS and Steam Deck (Linux) using the same game files without running into these issues, so I also believe it is specific to the Wii port of ScummVM.

Would be nice to have this looked into for the 2.9.0 release.

Tested with latest 2.9 branch.

At the same spot, I got an error once:
Unable to locate page %d for animation %d frame %d
But I failed to backup the exact values.

When trying again, I didn't get any error.

Anyway, I didn't get the same abort.

I got the error a new time and Dolphin emu has previously warned me about writing in a null area.
This needs a proper investigation.
The warning about numQueuedStreams being 0 was also here.

This bug, and its brother #11376, are likely out-of-memory errors.
The PR #6300 should fix it.

I did a test of the whole Act I from scratch without any crash.
