SCUMM/HE: Teleporter pad puzzle skips straight to the end (putttime)

Description (last modified by Thunderforge)

In Putt-Putt Travels Through Time (putttime), the Future zone has a teleporter pad puzzle that doesn't work correctly.

Expected Behavior

As demonstrated in this Let's Play:

Getting to the final platform

  1. Go to the teleporter room in the Future Zone (debug command: room 43)
  2. Clicking on the first button teleports to the second pad with two buttons
  3. Clicking on one of the buttons advances Putt-Putt to the third pad, while the other button teleports him back
  4. The player repeats and, through trial and error, manages to find the correct sequence of buttons to reach the final platform

Returning to the entrance

On the final platform, clicking the back arrow returns Putt-Putt to the entrance.

Repeating the puzzle

After solving the puzzle once, when Putt-Putt is at the entrance, he can click on the arcade machine (the cursor turns into a move arrow) and Putt-Putt will automatically go to the final platform by clicking the correct sequence of button presses.

Actual behavior

This behavior described happens whether or not the player is on the path where Pep (Putt-Putt's dog) is sitting on the final platform.

Getting to the final platform

Clicking on the first button teleports Putt-Putt straight to the final platform, skipping the entire puzzle.

Returning to the entrance

On the final platform, clicking the back arrow returns Putt-Putt to the entrance makes him disappear, then reappear on the final platform.

The only way to leave is to click on the room exit near the entrance (turning the cursor to the arrow). Then Putt-Putt will press the button, but this time it will take him to the entrance.

Repeating the puzzle

After solving the puzzle once, when Putt-Putt is at the entrance, he can click on the arcade machine (the cursor turns into a move arrow).

However, now when Putt-Putt presses the first button, he goes to the second platform, and then Putt-Putt automatically presses the correct series of button presses as if he had solved the puzzle correctly once.

Versions Tested

This does *not* happen in ScummVM 2.1.0 bundled in the Steam release, so it seems to be a regression.

Setting it to High because I think bypassing a whole puzzle is a major issue with the game.

Was this fixed? I couldn't reproduce this with the latest daily build
Tested on US version from steam, skipping to room 43 with debugger

I can't reproduce this in the latest daily version. I checked the commit history for scumm and didn't see any commits addressing this. Maybe it was a side effect of some other issue that has since been resolved.
