#1356 closed defect (wontfix)

FOA: Weird story bug (also happens with original engine)

Reported by: SF/leerqbasic Owned by: SF/ender
Priority: low Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords: script
Cc: Game: Indiana Jones 4

Description

Rather odd bug in INDY4, seems to me like there's a story bug...load the attached savegame and follow these steps to reproduce:

btw: you just got Sophia mad by saying that you're not afraid of snakes, and she won't follow you. Obviously she's stuck there.

* Go to the left to the waterfall * Look at the waterfall * Use the chain

You now left Sophia behind. There's no way of getting back (you need the weight of 2 persons).

* Go to the left * Go to the left

Indy sais "Not again"...now's the odd part. Sophia's meant to push Indy down, but she's trapped. Well, appearantly not!

* Talk to Sophia (she's still mad) * Say "I'm sorry I was rude" * Say "Come on, climb onto my shoulders" * Say "You probably wouldn't fit anyway" * Say "I just meant that..." * Say "After a few days..."

Well, isn't that nice. They both end up running into the wall, and Sophia's even managed to climb throught it! Any thoughts on this?

Warnings I got: WARNING: Code for object 640 not in room 51!

CVS version I used: ScummVM 0.5.7cvs (Dec 27 2003 20:45:20)

Would be nice if somebody checked for this with the original engine. If it also occurs in the original, it's a bug in the data files and not really our concern (it sounds as if it was, at least)...

Heh, amusing bug.

BTW, there *is* a way of getting back down there. Hint: That statue in front of the elevator looks pretty heavy - its head alone must weigh over a hundred pounds. And "It looks a bit wobbly..."

Still waiting for somebody to check if this occurs in the original, too...

Hi, I am shocked to find that this bug exists in the original game, the game exiting with the exact same error: "Code for object 640 not in Room 51". The earlier games made by LucasArts were bug-free, or so I thought. I just tested it, and it is not a ScummVM bug. This bug occurs with both the unpatched and patched versions (with indy4fix.exe). I hope you try to implement a hack or patch of some sort so unsuspecting players don't accidentally stumble across it.

There are no non-trivial bug free programs. Including all LucasArts games :-)

Looking into this, it does not appear to be easily fixable. So I'm going to close it as a "well, what can you do" bug :)
