SCUMM: Loom (EGA) - Overlay glitch with edge of distaff in woodbin

Reported by: antoniou79 Owned by:
Priority: low Component: Engine: SCUMM
Version: Keywords: overlay, stokes, distaff
Cc: Game: Loom

Description

This in on Windows 10 x64, with a recent local build from HEAD master of 2.6.0git, testing with LOOM DOS EGA, using the orchestral audio feature.

For this I've applied the patch for the MT-32 upgrade to LOOM and set my Audio settings for the game to use "MT-32 emulator" as Music device. You may also need to do that for the attached save game to work.

How to reproduce:
When Rusty/Bobbin is in the prison cell, at the Blacksmiths, double click on the straw to make Bobbin sleep and watch the cutscene up until Stokes appears to get the distaff and throw it in the furnace.

What happens:
Stokes walks behind the wood bin and then to its right side, at which point the edge of the distaff that is standing out to the right of the wood bin is hidden behind him, as if it is plastered on the wall.

What should happen:
Stokes should remain behind the distaff.

I'm including saved games (one proper, one mid-cutscene) and attaching screenshots of the issue (one with Stokes, in the cutscene playing the game normally, and one with Bobbin which was set up with the debugger -- it's more noticeable if you have Bobbin with his white robe over there.

Note: this issue is barely noticeable so I guess it's quite minor.

If I understand it correctly, this happens in the original as well. This is a part of SCUMM that I'm not really familiar with, so I don't know what could be done about it. (Or if it's worth it.)

Is it confirmed that this happened also in the original? Does the VGA version also suffer from this?
