Request: stop adding more and more engines, fix bugs instead

Description

As written, please stop adding more and more game engines - and fix bugs!

ScummVM went from a good idea to a big, fat monster with so unbelieveable many bugs...to you devs still understand whats going on here by yourself?

There are tons of bugs, some several years (!!! shame) old...do you think its normal that users report problems - and noone cares about for years? Please dont come with "its-free" discussion/excuse here.

Tons of compilation-warnings or errors on various different systems, some engines like Grim or Twine refuse to compile completely (on Rpi for example), Broken Sword 2.5 or Ultima 6 are unuseable due to simple bugs...

Beside the fact that the disable-engine-list is around 4 times longer atm than my enable-list - I better do not find out how many bugs are hidden in all the tons of other engines Ive never played...

Are you devs here satisfied with such a situation?

You are not going to convince anybody to fix bugs with such a confrontational approach.
And I am not sure you know what open source software is. The fact that the software is free may not be relevant, but none of us is working on this as a day job or getting paid for it. We are just a bunch of hobbyist working on ScummVM in our free time, and it is natural for us to work on the aspect of the program that interest us. And anybody is free to contribute and help fix bugs.

Out of interest I also looked at the list of tickets that have been closed as fixed since the start of the year, and there are 246 of those. So pretending that we don't care and are not fixing bugs is baseless.

Your attitude is only going to make some of the dedicated developers who have been trying to make ScummVM better over the years lose motivation and quit the project, and ScummVM may die because of the negativity thrown at us by people like you.

Since this ticket does not have anything constructive I will close this.
You are welcome to open tickets for specific bugs that you have seen and have not been reported yet, or add details to existing ones that might help to fix them. And you are of course welcome to fix some of them yourself.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
